Crawfish Aquatics offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and skill levels. Our goal is to offer age-specific and ability-specific training that challenges and develops each swimmer to the best of his or her abilities.
Evaluations for Group Placement
We place swimmers in the practice group we feel will have the greatest benefit and the most positive impact on each athlete.

- Group and Enrollment information will be provided following your group placement. Swimmers may be able to join the practice group that same day. You will receive an email the following day with all enrollment links and group information.
Swim Meets
Swimmers are offered a full, local meet schedule (primarily at CA Baton Rouge location or 1-hour travel range, approximately once per month), with additional travel trip meet opportunities as a swimmer’s performance level increases. Novice Group swimmers will have 2-3 meet options in the Fall / Spring and at least one in the Summer season. Go to Meet Info Page
Novice division
Learn & Improve Stroke Technique in a Team Setting
Novice is a seasonal program: Fall: Aug to Nov // Spring: Jan-May // Summer: June-July
Starting Requirements
•Ages: 5-14 years
•Ages 5-8 that can swim 25 yards freestyle & kick on back 25 yards without assistance. Side breath not required but swimmer should be able to take a breath and resume swimming position, continuing to move forward.
•Ages 9-10 that can swim 25 yards freestyle + side breath and 25 backstroke plus kick 25-50yds unassisted.
•Ages 11-14 that swim 25 yards freestyle with a side breath, 25 yards backstroke, kick 50 yards on their front and back and additional swim team skills.
Practice Schedule / Enrollment Options (Fall & Spring seasons)
-Spring Season runs January-May or March-May depending on days/week of practices.
-Fall Season runs late August-November.
-Pricing is based on length of season and calculated each season.
-Enrollment options: 2 day, Mon/Wed or Tues/Thur
-Practice times:
5-8 years, 3:40-4:20pm or 4:30-5:10pm,
9-10 years, 5:20-6:10pm or 5:15-6:05pm
10-14 years, 6:10-7:10pm (3 day format of MWS or T/Th/S; Saturday is 10-11am)
Practice Schedule/Enrollment Options (Summer Season)
-Summer Season runs June-July (Novice is not offered in the month of May)
-Enrollment options: 2 day, Mon/Wed or Tues/Thur
-Practice times:
5-8 years, 8:30am, 3:40pm, or 4:30pm
9-10 years, 5:20-6:10pm
10-14 years, 6:15-7:15pm
Division Goals:
-Develop freestyle & backstroke swimming & kicking skills through the use of drills and training of motor skills.
-Learn and strengthen dolphin kicking and breaststroke kick and flipturns for 9 & Older groups.
-Develop competitive swimming base skills of breath control, balance, body position in the water and kicking.
-Progress in this group will be measured on developing skills and technique rather than on speed in the water.
Program Advancement:
-Swimmers typically participate in at least 2 seasons in Novice before advancing to the next division.
-Curriculum is structured for multi-season enrollment.
-Placement following Novice division will be the Developmental Competitive Track (8 & Under Division or Age Group Development Division, depending on age).
Developmental Competitive: 8 & Under
Year Round Swim Team that allows for multi-sport & Seasonal participation!
*This group offers a year-round practice schedule with "half months" in May, August and December.
Starting Requirements
- Ages 5-8 (plus some 9's, 10's)
- Swim 25 yards+ freestyle with a side breath
- Swim backstroke for 25 yards+
- Skill sets in this division will range from the minimum starting level to knowledge of all 4 competitive strokes.
- Placement in a particular practice group is dependent on current skill set, year-round participation, previous participation or a tryout.
School Year Practice Schedule / Enrollment Options (August to May months)
- Practice times: Mon-Thurs, 4:30-5:20pm.
(3:40-4:30pm offered in Fall & Spring for 8 & U-1&2 levels). - Enrollment options: 2 day, Mon/Wed or Tues/Thur or 4 day, Mon-Thurs
- Tuition: $85 (2 day) or $100 (4 day) per month paid monthly by automated system (CC or ACH). $10 sibling discount.
Summer Season Registration Options (June/July)
- Summer is the only "season-based" registration option for swimmers enrolling during the Summer season months.
- Practice times: Mon-Thurs 8:30-9:20am or 4:00-4:50pm
- Enrollment options: 2 day, Mon/Wed or Tues/Thur or 4 day, Mon-Thurs
- Tuition for the Summer Season is paid in full for June/July (pro-rated for later season registrants- current pro-rate will populate on the online registration form check out page)
Division Goals:
- Practice time will be dedicated to skill improvement, drills, aerobic development, knowledge of competitive rules and fun.
- Develop a solid base of technical, practice and competition skills for future success in the Age Group or Junior Division.
- The monthly enrollment flexibility allows young multi-sport athletes to stay in touch with the water throughout the year or seasonally by continuing to develop competitive swimming skills and race in meets throughout the year.
Pactice Group "Levels"- 8 & U-I, 8 & U-II, 8 & U-III:
Each swimmer is assigned to a practice group based on their age, ability and skill level, desire to attend practices and participate in meets. This produces a more focused skill development based on the skill set of each practice group.
For communication purposes, information will be distributed by the Division; practice group levels are coach-designations for the purposes of daily practice plans and season objectives.
Developmental Competitive: Age Group
Year Round Swim Team that allows for multi-sport & Seasonal participation!
*This group offers a year-round practice schedule with "half months" in May, August and December.
Starting Requirements
- Ages 9-14
- Swim 50-75 yards freestyle with working knowledge of bilateral breathing (breathes to the side)
- Swim backstroke for 50 yards
- Dolphin kicking and additional swim team skills
- Skill sets in this division will range from the minimum starting level to knowledge of all 4 competitive strokes and swimmers are broken into practice groups based on age and skill.
School Year Practice Schedule / Enrollment Options (August to May)
- Practice times: Mon-Thurs 5:30-6:40pm; Friday, 4:45-6:00pm; Saturday, 9:15-10:30am (Aug -Nov and then Dec through May, 10:00-11:15am) **Saturday schedule is confirmed on the master schedule on Team News page
- Enrollment options: M/ W/ F or S or T/ Th/ F or S (can alternate the F & S practice)
*Friday/Saturday practice schedule will vary based on time of year or swim meet schedule. - Tuition: $95 per month, paid monthly by automated system (CC or ACH). $10 sibling discount.
Summer Season Registration Options (June/July)
- Summer is the only "season-based" registration option for swimmers enrolling during the Summer season months.
- Practice times: Monday-Thursday, 9:20-10:30am or 5:00-6:10pm.
*Advanced swimmers may be placed in the 6:20-7:30pm Age Group or HS Group, following staff evaluation /placement - Enrollment options: Practices is offered Mon-Thurs. Swimmers are NOT required to attend every day.
- Tuition for the Summer Season is paid in full for June/July (pro-rated for later season registrants)

- The monthly enrollment flexibility allows young multi-sport athletes to stay in touch with the water throughout the year or seasonally by continuing to develop competitive swimming skills and race in meets throughout the year.

High School (Seasonal Group)
The High School group is for ages 14-18 and run in the Spring & Summer season only, providing swimmers an opportunity for physical fitness training, improve stroke technique develop swimming speed and refine racing skills during the School Swim League "off season". This group is combined with our 6:20pm Age Group 3 group during the Summer months; less experienced swimmers will be placed with the 5:00pm Age Group 1, 2 as qualified. Swimmers are evaluated for placement into the MS/HS Training group and are grouped based on skill first, then age.
"New" swimmers ages 14 and older should enroll in swimming lessons to prepare to be in a swim team group.
School Year Schedule
-Fall practices run late August through mid-November, Mon/Tues/Thurs from 7:30-8:30pm
-Winter/Spring practices run mid Nov through May, Mon/Tues/Thurs from 6:45-8:00pm.
-Follow the M-Th 6:20-7:30pm Age Group practice schedule during the Summer months.
Summer Season Registration Options (June/July)
-Practice times & days: Mon-Thurs; timeslot depends on evaluation and placement
-Tuition for the Summer Season is paid in full for June/July (pro-rated for later season registrants)
Advanced Competitive: Junior Division, Senior Division
These groups require swimmer evaluation and coach placement.
These groups are for the intermediate to advanced competitive swimmer ages 8 and older. Swimmers are recommended for these Advanced Competitive groups by coaching staff and approved by the Head Coach or Head Age Group Coach.
Advanced training concepts, race strategies, and dryland training are added to a foundation of increased skill and aerobic development. Swimmers commit to the sport year-round as pre-requisites for moving into the higher levels of each division and are ready for increased technical instruction, expanding training pace and learning how to approach specific events in training and in competition.
